Introducing Mbrella Charge: A smarter EV charging solution

As the shift toward electric vehicles (EVs) accelerates, many businesses are struggling with fleet electrification and electric fleet management. Reducing carbon footprint and improving sustainability have become top priorities, but companies often lack the tools to manage charging costs, employee behavior, and operational complexity at scale.

According to Amaury Gérard, CEO of Mbrella, fleet electrification is now one of the most urgent challenges for organizations aiming to meet sustainability and ESG goals.

To address these, Mbrella, in collaboration with EDI, launched Mbrella Charge, an advanced EV charging and fleet management solution designed specifically for HR, Mobility, and Fleet Managers.

Mbrella Charge combines deep insights into employee charging behavior with customizable cost-control rules, dynamic rates, and split billing, enabling companies to optimise electric fleet spend while maintaining flexibility for employees. By merging HR expertise with cutting-edge charging technology, Mbrella Charge significantly improves electric fleet efficiency and governance.

Scaling charging infrastructure with reliability and control

During our Crossroads event held in early October, Tangi Merckx, CEO of EDI, highlighted the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure: from just a handful of charging points to thousands within months. This explosive growth underscores the need for reliable, scalable, and easy-to-manage charging solutions, supported by an extensive network across Europe.

EDI’s mission is to simplify the charging experience while building long-term partnerships with HR and fleet managers. This approach improves operational reliability and helps companies mitigate risks, avoid financial losses, and maintain control over their electric vehicle operations.

A full visibility into electric fleet spending

Mbrella Charge provides a charging pass and mobile app for employees, as well as an intuitive desktop platform for Fleet and Mobility Managers. Together, these tools offer full visibility and control over electric fleet costs, across borders and charging operators.

Key features include:

  • Electric fleet insights and reporting
  • Advanced cost-control settings
  • Split billing for business and private charging sessions
  • Public, Office, and Home charging reimbursement management
  • Anomaly and fraud detection

Eliminating errors through automated billing controls

Quinten Vandermeulen, Product Owner at Mbrella, identified two major pain points the solution addresses: outdated charging systems and limited control over fleet charging.

Through its partnership with Deftpower, Mbrella Charge includes 18 automated checks that ensure accurate split billing, eliminate errors, and provide HR and Fleet managers with complete financial transparency.

Supporting the transition to sustainable mobility

According to Denis Gorteman, CEO of D’Ieteren, Mbrella Charge fills a critical gap in the company’s mobility strategy by making the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric alternatives easier and more efficient.

“At D’Ieteren, we don’t aim to be a car provider, but a mobility provider,” he explained.

Mbrella Charge supports this vision by integrating seamlessly into HR and fleet processes, enabling a more fluid and sustainable mobility experience.

Only pay for what's actually used

Jacob van Zonneveld, CEO and co-founder of Deftpower, emphasized the practical benefits of Mbrella Charge. The solution ensures companies are billed only for the actual energy consumed, leveraging dynamic rates to reduce unnecessary costs and improve cost predictability across large fleets.

Smart Charging, ESG, and Sustainability Reporting

Looking ahead, Mbrella Charge will introduce smart charging, allowing companies to reduce energy costs by charging vehicles when electricity prices are lowest.

Amaury Gérard also confirmed that the platform is future-ready, helping clients optimize costs while strengthening their sustainability strategy. Automated ESG and sustainability reporting, highlighted by Tangi Merckx as a growing demand, will soon be fully supported within the Mbrella ecosystem.
